Heidi Gaul, of Albany, had her story, “Mom’s New Pet,” included in Short and Sweet Takes the Fifth. Another one of her stories, “In the Wind, Sun, Rain and Stars,” appeared in Life 2.0—Stories of Hope from Aggieland, a Great Commission Project. She also has devotions in Guideposts’ new bimonthly publication Mornings with Jesus. In November, she shared a table at a successful book-signing with OCW members, Nancy Drummond, of Sublimity, and Kathleen Ruckman, of Eugene at the Rainbow West Christian Bookstore in Eugene.
Mary Hake, of Crooked River Ranch, got a request from a mission school in Mexico to include one of her published children’s stories in a second-grade reader. It has been translated into German for this bilingual textbook. Mary’s sister, a German linguist, read the story aloud to the family on Christmas Eve, mentally translating it back to English as she did.
