Newsletters, blogs, social media or podcasts?
Which one of these should you focus on?
When God created time, He gave all of us 24 hours in a day.
Abraham, David, and even Jesus had the same 24 hours we do—but they never had to market indie books or impress a literary agent! I’ve tried all four of the above-mentioned platforms, but my current publisher encouraged me to focus on building my newsletter subscriber list more than social media or blog followers.
Why? Here are a few reasons:
- If someone signs up for our newsletters, they want to hear from us.
- Newsletter subscribers have entrusted us with at least their email address, so we can share a little more personally (“inside info”) than we might on social media.
- Newsletter subscribers begin to experience a deeper level of belonging, feeling like our “tribe” that we chat with regularly.
I’ve found my newsletter to be a very personal connection with readers, which has meant spending a portion of “newsletter Monday,” answering personal emails from recipients! Part of that 24-hour day well spent! Visit my website and sign up to be part of my tribe!
