Carolyn Bolz, of Riverside, California, has a short, humorous article, “Upstaged by Santa Claus,” in the May issue of Christian Communicator.
Last month she joined Toastmasters. Thanks to all the great ideas she has picked up at OCW summer conferences over the years, she has won five blue ribbons for Best Speaker at the last five meetings! She participated in the district competition and won the first-place trophy for her extemporaneous talk. In her own words: “What’s so amazing about these speaking awards is that for the past few years, I’ve hardly spoken due to a neurological disorder. God not only gave me my voice back recently, but also has allowed me to do well in public speaking!
“Another bit of exciting news: One of the neurological magazines I write for offered me a free two-night stay at a classy hotel in Las Vegas during their annual symposium that will be held there in September.”
Jerilyn Felton, of Portland, had an article, “Gone to the Dogs, Another Vision for Dog Ministry,” in the winter 2014 issue of Healing Ministry, a peer-review journal for chaplains and those involved in end-of-life issues.
Lynn Hare, of Portland, will have a devotional, “Curbing Judgment,” in the April 13 issue of Word Aglow. Another devotional, “Who’s Watching?” will appear in the summer issue of The Secret Place and her article “The Cost of Sin: $1 Down, $2 Back Up” appeared in the March edition of The Christian Journal.
