It’s June of 1972 in Eugene, Oregon. With sixth grade freshly behind them, lifelong friends Becky Travers and Jenny Ellis would be looking forward to a summer of adventures on their shiny Sting-Ray bikes, imagining together what junior high will be like. But that won’t be happening; Jenny’s family is moving nearly 1700 miles away—to Texas. They don’t know how to face the future without each other. They’ll have to start at new schools. They’ll have to make new friends. They’ll have to grow up…a lot. And they fear they will never see each other again.
Never in their wildest dreams could they imagine that Becky’s parting gift—a painting of Jenny’s bike—and its counterpart, given to Becky by her mother, could bridge the miles for continuing bicycle adventures!
